William R. "Bill" Visch (78) of New Port Richey, FL formerly of Greenville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Hathaway Hills Assisted Living, Greenville under the care of Hospice of Michigan. He was born January 17, 1941 in Grand Rapids, the son of Gerrit and Henrietta (Trumpie) Visch. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Greenville, St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Florida, Masonic Lodge #96 F & AM, Greenville American Legion Post #101, Life Member of the Sheridan VFW Post #5065, Travelers Protective Association, Tin Can Sailors and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era and the Cuban Missile Crisis. While serving in the Navy Bill was honored with the Good Conduct Award. Bill is survived by his wife Lois, children Rick (Teri) Visch of Greenville, Karen (Stu) DeWitt of Greenville and David Visch of Spring Lake; eight grandchildren Dominique Jenks-Thomas of Greenville, Tana (Daryn) Strouse of Greenville, Derek Visch of Kalamazoo, Jake Visch of Grand Rapids, Sydney Chaney of Wisconsin, Jessi (Melanie) Chaney of Traverse City, Heather (Jed) Averill of Greenville, and Amanda (Matt) Lares of Allendale; 10 Great Grand Children Connor and Emma Strouse, Elizabeth and Emmett Thomas, Henry Chaney, Owen, Drew and Jada Averill and Mia and Matty Lares; Sister, Barbara Grahs of Cedar Springs, Sister-In-Law, Marie (Earl) Starling of Greenville and Nieces and Nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father Gerrit Visch, Mother, Henrietta Benham, Step-Father John Benham, Daughter-in-law Dianne Visch and Brother-in-law Ted Grahs. Members of the family will meet with friends and relatives from 5 to 7 pm Thursday September 5th at Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. At 7 pm there will be Military Honors presented by the Greenville American Legion Post #101 and the Sheridan VFW Post #5065 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Walk to end Alzheimer's in honor of his wife Lois.
