William “Bill” A. Shea age 86, of Gowen, MI formerly of Salina, KS passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 18, 1928, in Minneapolis, Kansas, the son of Joseph P. & Eva M. (Householder) Shea. He served in the US Navy on the USS Olmsted APA 188 during World War II, the US Army A/A during the Korean Conflict and worked for the Pacific Railroad in Kansas. Left behind are his children, Julie Rosendahl, Geri (Ed) Ridgell, Kathy (Guy) Stutzman and Jim (Jenny) Shea, 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and was previously married to Mary J. & Gerda K. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Allen Helms just three days prior to his own passing, his parents, sisters; Viola, Geri, Neoma, brothers; Lawrence, Ronald, Rex, Lorene (Dick Allen), Roland, Daryl and child. Bill was known for his quick wit and willingness to help others. He was artistic, very social and loved to have a good time, especially camping/fishing. When he smiled so did those Irish Eyes. “For your smile makes even sunshine more bright.” Memorial Services with Full Military Honors will be held 2 PM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Fort Custer National Cemetery; 15501 M-96 (Dickman Road), Augusta, MI 49012.
