Vern M. Wheeler age 98, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Our Place Cares in Greenville. He was born October 2, 1919 in Lakeview, the son of William & Dora (Lund) Wheeler. Vern attended a one room schoolhouse in Lakeview, was a former member of the Lions Club, was a Seabee during World War II, a member of the Langston Church, a member of the Greenville American Legion Post #101 and was the owner of Wheeler Transit Mix in Greenville. He is survived by his wife Peg; children Fonda & (Larry) Jones of Turk Lake and Jillene Wheeler of Grand Rapids; step children Steve & (Sue) Matthews of Greenville, Alvin & (Wanita) Matthews of Six Lakes, Guy & (Fredia) Matthews of Jackson and Paul & (Sandy) Matthews of Greenville; grandson Thad & (Doreen) Jones of Greenville; great grandson Brenden Jones and by his step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Maxine M. Wheeler on February 18, 1960, second wife Virginia A. Wheeler on October 11, 1977 and his siblings Gilbert & (Eula) Wheeler, Lester & (Ethel) Wheeler, Leo Wheeler and Bernice & (Joe) Kulas. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens with Military Services rendered by the Greenville American Legion Post #101.
