Rosalie Ann Calkins

Rosalie A. Calkins age 79, of Ionia, passed away on July 6, 2024. She was born September 5, 1944 in Portland, the daughter of Leo & Marjorie (Prentice) Vroman. Rosalie married Gary Calkins on June 22, 1985. She worked for the City of Ionia as a dispatcher, and Dial a Ride of Ionia for years where she met so many people. She also worked as a greeter at Meijer in Ionia and at Big Boy. Rosalie would enter her African Violet at the Ionia Free Fair and always got a blue ribbon for 1st place. She loved to bowl in leagues and tournaments and was a member of the Moose in Ionia. Rosalie is survived by her two children daughter Kimberly Gamez of Ionia and son Kevin (Ginny) Rowland of Texas, brother Robert (Sandy) Vroman of Ionia sister Kathy (Gary) Mesecar of Lake Odessa; sisters in law Sue (Russell) Miser and Sara (Mark) Fosburg; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her dear aunt Pat Vroman. She is also survived by James & Amanda Rowland, Josh & Sonie Rowland, Juan DelaRosa & Ale and step children Michael Calkins, Lisa Gomez and Steven Calkins. Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, brother Charles, granddaughter Shelly Lee and Carl & Barbara Wright. Per her wishes she was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held later.
