Robert I. "Bob" Cooley

Robert I. “Bob” Cooley age 101 of Gowen, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 under the care of Corewell Spectrum Hospice. He was born March 21, 1922 in Detroit, the son of Ira G. & Edna M. (Balhoff) Cooley. Bob served in the United States Army during World War II, received the Purple Heart Medal and awarded the Silver Star Medal. Bob is survived by his daughter Constance Maurer of Sand Lake; 3 grandchildren, Darci Maurer, Julie Dochod, Curtis Jeffers many great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Joyce) Cooley of St. Clair and Jack (Ann) Lown of North Carolina; sister Ann Kruse of Washington; nephew David Cooley. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene R. Cooley on April 6, 2000, daughters Patsy Thorpe and Sharon Jeffers, grandchildren Robert & John Thorpe, Donald Maurer, Sharon Castro and Danielle Maurer and his sister Enid. Military & Graveside Funeral Services will be 1 PM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Pierson Cemetery.
