Richard C. Bartrum, Sr. age 79, of Gowen, passed away Sunday April 9, 2023 at Corewell Health (Butterworth Hospital) in Grand Rapids. He was born March 31, 1944 in Eloise, Michigan, the son of Gerald & Gertrude M. (Belding) Bartrum. He retired from Michigan Plating and Stamping, enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and sister, enjoyed playing poker with Blake, Dylan and Carter along with Lane and Nevaeh, playing baseball with his family, writing his books and was a member of Cedar Creek Community Church. Richard is survived by his children Barb (John) Stump of Rockford, Rich, Jr., (Bonnie) Bartrum of Greenville, Don (Thea) Bartrum of Gowen and Karen (Dan) Farley of Fenwick; 9 grandchildren Chris (Rachel) Stump, Stephanie (Nathan) Bouwkamp, Rich, III (Brook) Bartrum, Preston (Maggie) Bartrum, Amber Bartrum, Lane Sloppye, Nevaeh Sloppye, Katie (Jason) Bannister and Sam Petersen; 14 great grandchildren; brothers Terry (Linda) Bartrum of Wyoming, Michigan and Cliff (Chris) Bartrum of Lowell; sister Ruth Medinia of Grand Rapids; half brother Jack Bush Sr. and his inlaws Rick (Laura) Cole of Grand Rapids, Pat (Patty) Cole of Grand Rapids, Patricia (Dave) Wise of Belmont and Beverly Cole of Minot, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Bartrum, granddaughter Ciara Sloppye, brothers Henry, Nelson, Sr. and Norman, Sr. Bartrum, sister Gladys Cunningham and his half sister Nancy Bush. Memorial Services will be 11 AM Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Cedar Creek Community Church, west of Sparta, with Pastor Chon Lankford officiating. The burial will take place at a later date.
