Nellie Marie Dennis

Nellie Marie Dennis age 82, of Morley, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 under the care of Interim Hospice and her family. She was born July 9, 1941 in Marion, Michigan, the daughter of Robert A. & Donna M. (Hall) Christie. She was a flower lover, avid knitter and seamstress, enjoyed going to auctions, yard sales and spent many nights at the stock car races, mostly at Crystal. Nellie's (better known as Granny) pride and joy was her family and she loved hosting gatherings, especially at the holidays. Granny is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward; children Dana Allen (Kim) Dennis of Florida and Chris Edward (Karina) Dennis of Greenville; son-in-law, Phil Herron of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren Heather (Adam), Amanda (John), Kit, Derrick, Kenneth, Raymond (Heather), Aleigha (Khris), Justin, Nicole and Elizabeth (Jasen); 32 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren with one on the way; sisters Judy Hondorp of Canadian Lakes and Sally Christie of Lakeview and brother Larry Christie of Lakeview; sisters-in-law Jean, Beverly, Mary, Blanche and Sally; brothers-in-law Gerry, Mike, Chuck and Bill; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Loretta Maxine, daughter Denise Joy Dennis, son Craig Evan Dennis, great-grandson Braeden Dobson, sister Martha Lonn, brothers Keith Christie and Harold Brown; brothers-in law Victor, Dave, Richard, and Roger; sisters-in-law Shari, Jackie and Mary. Members of the family will meet from 9:30-10:00 AM on Saturday for a private viewing. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Bill Overton officiating. A luncheon and time to share memories will follow. There will be a private burial in Forest Home Cemetery at a later date. Everyone is encouraged to wear Christmas attire in honor of Nellie's favorite holiday.
