Milton Rackham age 98, of Belding, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at home. He was born April 23, 1925, in Bates, Idaho. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville. He lived a good life; in his youth he was a true cowboy herding cattle and sheep on the Wyoming range.  At age 17 he entered the Navy during World War II as a PT crewman on PT 81. He served in the Aleutian Islands off the Alaskan Shores, and later in the Pacific Islands.   After his service, he worked as a construction worker on the Palisade Dam in Idaho.  He met the love of his life Carol Johnson and was married on May 26, 1950, and celebrated 72 years before her passing.  Later he worked for Montgomery Wards as a sales manager for a number of years.  He moved his family to Michigan and opened his upholstery business and served the community of Belding for over 40 years.  He loved fishing with or spending time with his grandchildren.  There never was a time that he ended a conversation with a friend or stranger that he didn’t end the phrase with “remember you’re loved”.  Milton is survived by his children Nan (Jim) Pendergast of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Glenda – Deceased (Garth) Persson, Rodney (Cynthia) Rackham of Belding, Roxanne (Chris) Wilson of American Fork, Utah, Lucinda (Mark) Goodwin of Milford, Ohio, Kevin (Karen) Rackham of St. Louis, Missouri and Aaron (Denise) Rackham of Greenville; 32 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; sister Joyce Lindstrom of Idaho; three brothers LeRoy Rackham of Idaho, Albert Rackham of Idaho and James (Kathy) Rackham of Washington; four sisters in law Violet Gardner of Lewisville, Idaho, Darla Cunningham of Pocatello, Idaho, Tina (Gary) Simpson of Othello, Washington and Rhonda (Chris) Nelson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and his two brothers in law Randy (Charlene) Johnson of Lewisville, Idaho and Merrit (Charlotte) Johnson of Othello, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol on August 22, 2022, parents, daughter Glenda Persson, son in law Tim Harris, in-laws Ore (Sarah) Johnson, Lilas (Walt), Hunter, Richard (Wanda – Living) Johnson, Terry (Marlena – Living) Johnson and Gaye (James), Beard. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, June 3, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Marshall Funeral Home and from 1 hour till the services at the church. The services at the church will conclude with a combined Military Service consisting of the VFW Post #4406 and American Legion Post #203 of Belding. Burial will be in Otisco Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Milton’s name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Missionaries.
