Michael D. “Mike” Shearer age 72, of Ionia, formerly of Greenville, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at Medilodge of Lansing. He was born June 21, 1947 in Greenville, the son of James & Beth (Cline) Shearer. He was a United States Army Veteran serving two tours during the Vietnam War, awarded two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Mike is survived by his wife Sally, children DeeDee (Robert) Williams of Greenville, Syreeta (Saschia) Williams of Ionia, Jessica (Mike) Garcia of Greenville, Emily Morgan Shearer of Grand Rapids and Faith Michael Shearer of Ionia; 9 grandchildren Brittany and Nathan White, Aneysa Jensen, Rylee Shearer, Desiree and Alainna Garcia and Kobe, Kyra and Kiana Williams; 7 great grandchildren Melanie, Sophia, Brantley, Kane and Brayson White; Alexcia Johnston and Mercadies Peterson; sisters Connie (Michael) Gray of The Woodlands, Texas and Pam Broomfield of Greenville and his brother in law Gregory L. (JoAnn) Scott of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Timothy and his grandson Michael Garcia. Funeral Services will be NOON Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Marshall Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 AM till the funeral. Military Honors will be by the Greenville American Legion Post #101 and the Sheridan VFW Post #5065. Memorial contributions can be made in Mike’s name to the Clay Street Center, an adult day care service in Greenville.
