Melanie Sue Merdzinski age 72, of Greenville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence-Harbor Hospice in Muskegon. She was born September 5, 1952, in Walker, Michigan, the daughter of Raymond & Bernice (Hammer) Smith. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville. Melanie loved to travel with her husband and spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed lake living and watching for hummingbirds all while chasing the chipmunks from her bird feeders. Melanie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jim; sons Keith (Amy) Merdzinski of Muskegon and Kevin (Jenny) Merdzinski of Kentwood; eleven grandchildren Andrew, Sarah, Hannah & (Sam), Kasey, Eryn, Anthony & (Alma), Zachary, Ethan, Madyson, Isaac, and Abram; one great grandson Beckett and her sister Rae (Edward) Draper of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Cathy Schnabel. Funeral Mass & Committal will be 11 AM Monday, February 10, 2025, at St. Charles Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 10 AM till the mass at church. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Melanie’s name are suggested to the Carmelite Nuns of Ada (Parnell) Michigan.
