Lucile A. Smith

Lucile A. Smith Newell age 96, formerly of Sand Lake, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Metron of Cedar Springs. She was born September 16, 1918 in Coral, the daughter of Rasmus & Hattie (Balzell) Christensen. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant, was a former LPN at the doctor office of Leo Bunce MD and loved to paint. Lucile is survived by her son Dennis & (Kimberley) Smith of Novi; daughter in law Sue Smith of Sand Lake; 8 grandchildren Paul & (Monica), Todd & (Kami), Troy & (Erin), Scott and Randy Smith, Teri & (Bill) Little, Sidney and Justin Smith; 12 great grandchildren and her sister in law Betty Christensen of Lakeview. She was preceded in death by her husbands Olin Smith in 1958, Frank Newell in 1970, sons Larry in 1968, Rick in 2012 and Bruce in 2014, sister Adel Almy in 2006 and her brother Gene Christensen in 2013. Memorial Services will be 11 AM Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant. Burial will take place later in the spring at West Pine Cemetery.
