LaVon H. Nelson Edwards age 89, of Greenville, passed away, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Green Acres Retirement Living under the care of Spectrum Hospice. She was born February 28, 1928 in Trenton, the daughter of Charles R. & Garnet M. (Walbridge) Mills. She loved sewing, dancing, singing, made over 200 afghans, was a nurse at the former Christensens Nursing Home and the Belding Hospital, enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. LaVon is survived by her six children David & (Wendy) Nelson of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Bruce & (Sue) Nelson of Greenville, Mike & (Louise) Nelson of Greenville, Chris & (Vicki) Nelson of Greenville, Hope & (Ron) Pratt of Trufant and Shellie & (Jeff) Somerfield of Greenville; 16 grandchildren Jeff & (Debbie) Nelson, Adam & (Susan) Nelson, Joshua & (Katie) Nelson, Jordan & (Wen) Nelson, Quentin & (Jenny) Nelson, Lucas & (Cher) Nelson; Samantha Nelson & (Mike Prince), Jonathan & (Jacklyn) Nelson, Mitchell & (Sara) Nelson, Elizabeth & (Justin) Petersen, Autumn & (Rich) Hoffman, Holly Thompson, Angela & (Josh) Bailey, Austin, Leah and Connor Somerfield; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild on the way; 2 brothers Gilbert Mills of Bullhead City, Arizona and Charles & (Judy) Mills of Dundee and her sister in law Ruth Davenport of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank H, Nelson in 1987, granddaughter Elisa Nelson in 1980 and her infant brother David Mills. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday, November 2, 2017. Funeral & Committal Services will be 3 PM Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Burial will be in South Sidney Cemetery.
