Jeanette Belle Kent, nee Marlin, fell asleep in death on October 4, 2024, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, after a brief illness. She was born on August 18, 1934, the eldest of five children born to Carl Sr. and Jeanette Margaret (Smith) Marlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gary and David Marlin; great grandson Jarin Rittersdorf and brothers-in-law Vick Kent, Allen Kipp and Virgil Kent; sisters-in-law Verna Kipp and Barbara Kent; ex-husband Vern Kent. She is survived by her brother Carl (Sharon) Marlin Jr.; sister Judy (Alan) Stahl; sisters-in-law Diana Kent, Jane Marlin and Theresa Marlin Bivins. Additionally, Jeanete is survived by her children Christina Eggertsen, Linda Kent, Sandra (David) Zimmerman, Steven (Julie) Kent, Ronald Kent, Duane (Jenny) Kent, Janice (Michael) Shepard and Janet (Carl) Hollister. Jeanette was also grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to many grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. When not yet 18 years old her research of the Bible led her to accept Bible truths, and she became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses being baptized in September of 1952. For the next 72 years she remained a faithful servant and loved teaching others about the Bible. Jeanette had a deep love for her family, friends and even strangers. Some of her grandchildren referred to her as “Honey” Grandma as she often referred to them by that term of endearment. She was also called “Sweet Mama.” Her father, when still with us, affectionately referred to her as “Jeanetty.” Some family members still do. Her family and everyone who knew Jeanette, felt blessed just by knowing her. When admitted into the hospital, nurses were told they would love her. Some said they already did. They never did anything without her thanking them. All will miss her until she joins us in the resurrection onto a Paradise Earth. A memorial service will be held for Jeanette at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 915 Industrial Park Drive, Greenville, MI 48838 at 2 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Hookup via Zoom will be available for those unable to attend in person. Contact the Hall for the link. Arrangements are being handled by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with complete obituary online at www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com where you can leave a message of condolence for the family.
