James L. Wilson

James L. Wilson age 84, of Gowen, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday evening January 30, 2019 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. He was born July 20, 1934 in Grand Rapids, the son of Lawrence A. & Maude (VanValkenberg) Wilson. He was a member of Eagles #4321 of Greenville, the American Legion Post #101 of Greenville, served in US Navy during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed watching Greenville High School sports. James is survived by his sons and daughters in law Larry (Nancy) Wilson of Greenville and Thomas (Meg) Wilson of Rockford; 6 grandchildren Steve (Tori) Wilson of Chicago, Mitch Wilson of Kalamazoo, Megan Wilson, Tim Wilson, John Wilson and Robert Wilson all of Grand Rapids; 4 great grandchildren; sister and brother in law Pat (Louie) Thomas of Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife Leona M. Wilson on July 9, 1984 and his grandson Larry Wilson, III on May 17, 2008. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Wednesday February 6, 2019. Funeral Services will be 11AM Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville with Military Services by the American Legion Post #101. Burial will be in Washington Park in Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions can be made in James’s name to the American Cancer Society.
