Jack F. Simmons

October 5, 1955 — September 24, 2021

Jack Simmons passed away September 24, 2021 at the age of 65. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Anne, in 1982 and together they had three children: Jacob, Jennifer, and Michael. To the outside world, Jack was quiet and reserved, but to those who knew him best, he was a goof who loved to sing, dance, and tell bad dad jokes before it was cool. Jack also had a penchant for history and could recite details of events like WWII or a train timetable on cue. He loved sports (a love-hate relationship with the Lions), fixing up old vehicles, and bike riding. But most of all, Jack loved his wife and children and even toward the end, always tried to make them laugh. Jack is survived by his children: Jacob Simmons (Julie Lyons), Jennifer Simmons (Michael McBride), and Michael Simmons; his brother Bob (Bev) Simmons, sister Terri (Dave) Nurenburg, brothers Dave and Dan Simmons; his brothers and sisters-in-law Chris (Mary) Hamman, Greg (Deb) Hamman, Doug (Mary) Hamman, Alex (Missy) Hamman and Cathy VanHoose, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothy Simmons and mother and father-in-law John and Audrey Hamman. Visitation will be held 2-3 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville with a Memorial service to follow. Per family request, masks are required. Contributions may be made to Clay Street Center or Spectrum Hospice. Arrangements are by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with complete obituary online at www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com where you can leave a message of condolence for the family.
