George A. Johansen age 81 of Greenville passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Metron of Belding. He was born August 20, 1936, in Montcalm County, the son of Andrew Morgan & Martha Jane (Moffatt) Johansen. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant, former member of Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen, was a retired Postal Carrier in Greenville, member of the NRA and American Legion Post #101of Greenville, enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and was a US Army Veteran and member of the National Guard. George is survived by his son Brian and & (Bonnie) Johansen of Greenville and his daughter Beth Johansen and & (Paul Brown) of Germany; 4 grandchildren Kelly & (Eric) Christensen, Jill & (Brian) Sweet, Brent Johansen and Jeremy “J.R.” & (Julie) Machlay; 5 great grandchildren Madison and Lily Christensen, Landon Besson, Maverick and Evie Sweet; 2 step grandchildren Niki Davis and Cullen Brown; step great grandchildren Lailah, Lauren, Carter and Callie; 3 nephews; brother John & (Geri) Johansen of Greenville and also by Carol Johansen the mother of Brian & Beth. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Morgan & Martha Jane Johansen and his son Craig Johansen. Memorial Services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen, with Full Military Honors by the American Legion Post #101 of Greenville. The family will meet with relatives and friends at the luncheon immediately following at the church. Burial will take place later in Monroe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions in George’s name be made to either the Settlement Lutheran Church or St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
