Dorothy E. Stocks

Dorothy E. Stocks age 97, of Sheridan, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Carson City Hospital. She was born June 5, 1916 in Newaygo, the daughter of William & Dora (Osborne) Monroe, Jr. Dorothy was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, was a former member of the Northview Senior Center, and a bingo player at the Salvation Army. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Robert & (Jutta) Stocks of Prosperity, South Carolina; daughter and son in law Oma & (Charlie) Echter of Sheridan; 4 grandchildren Robert J. & (Jamie) Stocks of Rockford, Lisa Stocks of Hastings, Joseph & (Ginnie) Echter of Tecumseh and Gregory & (Wendy) Echter of Orleans; 7 great grandchildren Ethan J. and Nicole Stocks, Morgan, Rheagan, Cameron, Tyler and Gwen Echter. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin B. Stocks in 1994 after 53 years of marriage; Marshall Monroe, Carl Monroe, Doris Ramos, Oma Pergael and Forrest "Billy" Monroe. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville and from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Reyers North Valley Chapel in Grand Rapids. Catholic Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, with visitation from 10 AM till the mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
