Dorothy (Mauritz) Jenkins

Dorothy (Mauritz) Jenkins, age 77, of Six Lakes, Michigan died peacefully August 8, 2018 at her home under the care of Hospice of Michigan. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on June 13, 1941. She was the daughter of the late John and Magdalen Mauritz. Dorothy attended Oshkosh High School, class of 1959 and was a 1962 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. After marrying Tom Jenkins in 1965 they moved and raised a family in the Detroit area. Her career as a devoted R.N was mostly at Martha T. Berry in Macomb County, Michigan. In 2001 she retired and relocated to Six Lakes and became a valued member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Edmore Michigan. Throughout her life Dorothy touched many lives as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor and caregiver. Her last days at home hospice were filled with welcomed visits and emotional goodbyes from some of the many people she was loved by and an inspiration to. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Thomas Jenkins of Six Lakes and sons James Jenkins and Paul (Jennifer) Jenkins and daughter Christine Jenkins. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Ty, Mason, Ellai and Whitney. sisters, Rita (Jack Draves) and Mary (Steve Sturm); brothers Steve and Robert Mauritz, sister in law Marlyn Mauritz along with many nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Dorothy leaves surviving in-laws Robert (Cindy) Jenkins, Joni Geiger and John Jenkins. She was predeceased by her brothers, David Mauritz, John Mauritz, Fred Mauritz, and also in-laws Robert (Sigrid) Jenkins, William Jenkins and Mary Jenkins. Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Monday, August 13, 2018 at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1051 E. Howard City Road in Edmore, with members of the family meeting with friends and family from 10 AM till the Mass. There will be a church luncheon immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
