Dorothy Jean Hosner (Dee)

GREENVILLE – Dorothy Jean Hosner (Dee) age 93, formerly of Greenville died August 16, 2018 at Crestwood Assisted Village Assistance Living in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan with her daughter Kathy LeFever by her side. Dorothy was born in McBride, Michigan, August 14, 1926 in a small house at the drag strip, the daughter of Clifford & Winfred Marvin. In October of 1942 Dorothy married Richard A. Harkness, who preceded her in death in May of 2001. In July of 1957 she married Jack D. Hosner, who preceded her in death in 1974. Dorothy enjoyed going to garage sales, sewing, antiquing, working in her flower beds and making crafts and selling them art craft shows. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and the public, she and her late husband (Jack) ran several businesses in Crystal, Michigan. The Bailey Restaurant Lakeside Bar and Grill and the former Palladium. Dorothy worked at Brownie’s and the Danish Kitchen Restaurant in Stanton, then Gibsons in Belding later in life where she retired. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children; Rick Harkness and his friend Joyce Sanders of Edmore, daughter Kathy (Harkness-Schwandt) LeFever and husband Larry LeFever of Six Lakes; grandchildren Tracy Tatum of Coleman, Joyce Leenheer of Holland, K.C. Harkness of Grand Rapids, B.J. Harkness of Grand Rapids; Curtis Schwandt of Lakeview, Kelly Hondorp and husband Kyle of Cadillac and Brent Akers of Brown City; Step grandchildren Rick and Robin Thon of Grand Rapids, Heather and Chad Tubbs of Mount Pleasant, and Tony and Jen LeFever of Greenville; several great grandchildren; special niece Susan Isles of Barryton and special friends Ron and Diane Mitchell of Greenville. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Winfred, 2 daughters Sharon Yakes in July of 2000, Paulette (Pia) Akers in May of 1995, stepson Rick Hosner, grandson Michael Nichparenko in November of 2002, son in law Richard R. Schwandt in December of 1986, sister Lois Mae (Marge) Kinnison and 4 brothers Edsel, Chuck, Ned and Leo Marvin. Memorial Services will be 4 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lakeview. Private interment will be in McBride Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lakeview.
