Donald Dale Freed, age 88, of Alma passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at his home. He was born November 9, 1926 in Riverdale the son of Edward and Anna (VanCleve) Freed. Donald was a graduate of Alma High School and on February 9, 1952 he married Lucy Bennett in Alma. He later married Virginia Marr. He spent many years working in the Mechanic Department of Paul Cameron Chrysler Dodge in St. Louis and later spent over 25 years working in the Maintenance Department for St. Louis Public Schools. He was a member of the Ithaca Wesleyan Church and had been attending the Alma Church of the Nazarene. Donald is survived by his three sons, Roger (Brenda) Freed of Olathe, Kansas, Dale (Marilyn) Freed of Tustin and Carlton “Bud” (Jane) Freed of Clarkston, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Nina Curtis of Alma and two brothers, David (Joan) Freed of Mt. Pleasant and James (Margaret) Freed of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lucy, his second wife, Virginia, siblings, Bill, Edward Virgil, Leland, Chuck, Floyd, Audley and Meredith Freed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11 am at the Alma Church of the Nazarene with Donald’s grandson, Pastor John Freed and Pastor Brian Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Pritchard Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 – 8 pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home.
