David Lee Mlynarchek

January 18, 1959 — May 8, 2024

David Lee Mlynarchek, age 65, passed away May 8, 2024. He was born January 18, 1959 in Grand Rapids, MI, to Frank & Marjorie (Postmus) Mlynarchek. Graduated from West Catholic in 1977 where he starred in football, track & field, and powerlifting–receiving multiple D-I football scholarship offers. He worked construction for: A.J. Veneklasen; Chek Construction where he spearheaded day-to-day operations and logistics; Pioneer; KBR in Iraq & Afghanistan. But his main passion was independent home building (not contracting), completing 29 houses in West Michigan. He fought for, and won, full custody of his 8, 6, and 2-y/o boys. He was Mom and Dad–dancing his baby to sleep and making “nests” during flu season, and never missing his boys’ games and joining-in evenings at the Y (followed by Slurpees). His boys were always clean, dressed, fed-his bag-lunches unmatched-and unconditionally loved. This dedication continued as the boys became men: imparting parenting advice, caring for a son with M.S., and caring for a son after Army service. He enjoyed 70s music, meditation, John Grisham novels, documentaries, British TV Mysteries & Dramas, good conversation, Sudoku, baking, and spoiling granddaughters. David is survived by his sons Austin (Tabitha) Mlynarchek, Aaron Mlynarchek, and Dane Mlynarchek; three grandchildren Harper, Goldie and Darby; brother Jerry (Beth) Mlynarchek and sister Carol Wagner. Preceded in death by his parents and uncle Hank Postmus. No services are planned. Arrangements are by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com, where you can view the complete obituary and leave a message of condolence for the family.
