Burton V. Sly, Sr., age 83, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. He was born December 18, 1930, in Trufant, the son of Raymond & Eithel (Baldwin) Sly. He was a veteran in the US Army during the Korean War, was a member of the Sheridan VFW Post #5065, had worked for the Village of Sheridan and worked 18 ½ years at Carnation in Sheridan. Burton is survived by his wife Bea; children Darlene Dickinson of Sheridan, Norma & (Earl) Johnson of Crystal, Cindy & (Jim) Plaunt of Sheridan, Burton & (Mickey) Sly, Jr. of Greenville, Terry & (Brenda) Fancett of Harrison, Vicky & (Charles) Dickinson of Sheridan and Jerry & (Kim) Fancett of Sheridan; daughter in law Bonnie White of Ionia; sisters Clarabelle Sawdy, Althea Nicholes, Betty Sias, Freda Vanbuskirk, Sharon Collins and Charlene Sly; brothers Raymond Sly, Jr. and Robert Sly; 27 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Shawn Fancett, grandson Adrian Holden. sisters Sandra Hansen and Arden Sly, brother Charles Sly and his son in law Orval Dickinson. Funeral & Committal Services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. Visitation will be held before the service from Noon till 2 PM on Sunday. Burial will take place later in Evergreen Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Burton's name are asked to consider the needs of the family
