Anna Marie Hansen Petersen age 95, formerly of the Greenville area passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at her home in Ann Arbor under the care of St. Joseph Mercy Hospice. A true child of the depression, Anna was born August 12, 1922 in Podunk, the daughter of Elmer & Vernice (Levett) Hansen. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1939. She had eloped to Del Rio, Texas to marry Howard T. Petersen who was in the Army Air Corp at Laughlin Field AFB during World War II. She was a member of the Danish Sisterhood Society, helped build gliders at Gibson’s in Greenville, treasured memories of the trip to Denmark with her husband Howard and was a skilled farmer and gardener. In her seventies she attended computer classes at Montcalm Community College. She used these skills to advance her knowledge of genealogy and also loved to read. Anna is survived by her daughter Carolyn; nephews Keith Olsen and Jim Rock; nieces Linda Olsen Schmoldt, Patty Rock Brown, Sue Rock Keyes and Nancy Rock Endres. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard T. Petersen, son Lewis Petersen, daughter in law Carolyn Marie Petersen and her sister Leona Hansen Rock. Viewing will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. Private Burial will take place later in Oakfield Cemetery.
